Charging heavy batteries smartly, without overloading

Do you work with large or heavy batteries? The Batteryguard XL-16 400 V with continuous and sequential charging is built for exactly that. First, part of the batteries are charged; afterwards the system automatically switches in the remaining ones. This keeps the load on your electrical system under control, while you still have plenty of fully charged batteries ready for use.

By default fitted with European outlets, but we can also equip your battery safe with UK, French or Swiss sockets on request.

Who is the Batteryguard XL-16 for?

This battery safe is a logical choice if you work daily with large, heavy batteries and want to charge them safely in one central place. You will recognise yourself in these situations:

  • You charge multiple batteries every day for pallet trucks and professional power tools
  • You want all chargers and batteries together in one safe location, not spread throughout the building
  • You already have three-phase power (400 V) available at your site

ElectrIQ: continuous and sequential charging in one system

The Batteryguard XL-16 400 V uses the ElectrIQ charging system, which combines continuous charging with sequential charging between levels. Several levels can charge simultaneously. Only when one level is full does ElectrIQ switch in the next level. This keeps the load on your electrical system within safe limits, while ensuring you always have plenty of charged batteries available.

  • Levels 1, 2 and 3 charge at the same time, each up to 16 amps
  • Batteries on one level full? The next level is switched in automatically
  • You have a large number of charged batteries available in the battery safe at all times

Make your Batteryguard battery safe even more practical

With extras such as docking stations, pull-out shelves and an electronic code lock, you can tailor the Batteryguard battery safe to your workplace. Would you like to see examples of how other customers have arranged their battery safes? Have a look at all available options.

Safety first

If you charge many large batteries together, you want to be sure that an incident does not immediately affect your entire building. The Batteryguard XL-16 is therefore constructed so that a battery fire remains inside the battery safe. If something does go wrong with a battery, the fire is limited to one enclosed compartment. This makes the situation easier to control, reduces the risk of major fire damage and helps to prevent downtime for your business.

The XL-16 has been tested according to the VDMA 24994 test requirements and has been awarded the ECB-S certificate on that basis.

Key safety features:

  • Fire- and explosion-resistant battery safe

  • Prepared for smoke extraction, enabling controlled removal of smoke

  • Can be connected to your fire alarm system

  • Warning system in case of a fault or if the door is left open

Downloads: documentation for your safety or insurance adviser

Insurers and safety officers often want written proof of the measures you take when charging and storing lithium-ion batteries. With the right documents, you can easily demonstrate that you are using a tested and certified battery safe according to the latest regulations.

Do you want to discuss the Batteryguard XL-16 with your safety adviser, fire service contact or insurer? The official documents below will help. You can also use them in your risk assessment and when updating your internal safety procedures.

Personal advice for your situation

No two companies use batteries in the same way. Not sure whether the XL-16 with continuous and sequential charging is the right fit for your situation? We are happy to look at it with you. In a short conversation we discuss, among other things:

  • which batteries you use and how many you want to charge at once
  • what your charging pattern looks like (daytime, shift work, overnight charging)
  • which circuits and connections are currently available in your installation

Afterwards, you receive clear advice: sometimes a battery safe with 16 charging points is exactly the right next step; sometimes a model with more or less capacity is a better match.
